For my birthday this year, I mixed things up a bit. Typically Eric and I are traveling this time of year and we celebrate both our anniversary and my birthday in some far away place. I haven’t always liked my birthday, and getting away and celebrating it quietly with just the two of us has been nice.
But since this year marks my transition from my 20s into my 30s, I couldn’t bear the idea of celebrating it alone away from all of my friends. So we 10 of us packed up our bags (and coolers) and headed out to Palm Springs to spend a weekend together. We stayed at this incredible property called Villa Mint to be able to truly unwind. There are 4 bedrooms, a beautiful pool, a large garden, and a rooftop deck for watching the sun set.
You may notice that I’m hardly in these photos – that’s because I really stepped away from the camera and work on this trip, and spent time with my friends. I was tempted to snap pictures a few times, but really, Villa Mint is the perfect place to relax. If you’re planning on heading out to the desert soon, this is where I would recommend staying. It was so private and lush, and with a group of friends it was a lot less money than a hotel weekend, and a lot more comfortable.
